Fresno, California (March 21, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday night multi-vehicle accident that killed three people and left several others in Fresno.

The deadly accident happened at about 11:00 p.m., on March 20, at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and McKinley Avenue.

According to the officials, a black Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Francisco Portillo, 20, of Fresno, was traveling at about 100 mph on McKinley Avenue when it collided with multiple cars while attempting to flee from a Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy.

Following the collision, at least five vehicles reportedly caught fire.

Three people sustained fatal injuries in the accident.

Portillo and his girlfriend were taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where they were listed in critical but stable condition.

Portillo is expected to face vehicular manslaughter charges, along with other charges.

It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
