Fresno, California (January 16, 2021) – A man and a woman were injured Friday evening in a hit-and-run accident at a Fresno intersection, according to a local news source.

The major injury collision occurred at around 5:45 p.m. Friday, January 15, at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Inyo Avenue.

As per the report, the couple was walking in the area when a red vehicle struck them. The impact threw the woman approximately 100 feet.

The woman sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Her boyfriend suffered unspecified injuries in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle involved did stop to render aid to the couple and fled the scene. Another woman called the authorities and told them she was the one who struck the couple.

It remains unclear if intoxication played a role in the accident.

No arrest has been made in this case.

The accident remains under investigation.
