13-Year-Old Boy Critically Injured in Fountain Bicycle Accident at Brookhurst Street and Slater Avenue

Fountain Valley, California (September 1, 2020) – A teen bicyclist was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning at an intersection in Fountain Valley, according to a local news source.
The bicycle accident happened at around 11:20 a.m. Monday, August 31, at the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Slater Avenue.
Authorities said a 13-year-old boy was riding his bicycle eastbound on Slater Avenue when he was hit by a 1996 Nissan Frontier that was traveling southbound on Brookhurst Street.
Major Injury Bicycle Accident in Fountain Valley
The boy sustained critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital. He is currently in stable condition, authorities said.
The driver of the Nissan, Salvador Diaz Carrillo, 21, of Santa Ana, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
Intoxication was not believed to have played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
