Fontana, CA: Fatal End-Of-Pursuit Crash on 210 Freeway at Beech Avenue
1 Killed, 2 Hospitalized after Fontana Accident on 210 Freeway at Beech Avenue
Fontana, California (January 21, 2021) – One person was killed and two other people were hospitalized after a police chase ended in a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon in Fontana, according to a local news source.
The pursuit began at around 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, when the police officers attempted to pull over a suspect in connection with a criminal investigation.
The suspect did not stop and sped off, and as a result, a pursuit ensued. The chase went through Fontana, Rialto, and Rancho Cucamonga.
The suspect returned to Fontana and exited the 210 Freeway at Beech Avenue. The driver reportedly ran a red light at the intersection and collided with another vehicle that was not involved in the chase.
One person in the second vehicle died at the scene, while another occupant was taken to a local hospital with major injuries.
The suspect was also transported to the hospital in unknown condition.
Authorities closed Beech Avenue while the investigation took place.
The accident remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
