Felipe Casarrubias Struck and Killed by Vehicle on 5 Freeway near Manchester Avenue in San Diego

San Diego, California (February 19, 2020) – San Diego Medical Examiner has identified 54-year-old Felipe A. Casarrubias of Pico Rivera as the victim who died three days after a pedestrian accident that happened in the area of Cardiff-by-the-Sea at 6:49 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said the fatal crash took place on the Interstate 5 Freeway at the Manchester Avenue on-ramp on Thursday evening February 13.
As per the CHP report, Casarrubias was struck by a gray BMW when he exited his vehicle after pulling over in the southbound emergency lane.

Casarrubias sustained traumatic head injuries following the wreck. He later died at Scripps Memorial Hospital-La Jolla on Sunday, February 16, where he was admitted after the wreck.
The fatal accident remains under an active investigation.
