Fresno, California (May 21, 2021) – A motorcyclist died after rear-ending a van Thursday night at a Fresno intersection, authorities said.

The deadly accident occurred at about 9:15 p.m. on Avenue 280 and Road 176, between Farmersville and Exeter.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Farmersville man was riding his motorcycle in the area when he crashed into the back of an Econoline van that was attempting to turn left onto Road 176 from Avenue 280.

The rider was thrown off the bike upon the impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

It is undetermined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
