San Diego County, California (May 28, 2021) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a big rig Friday morning on an interstate near Fallbrook, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The deadly accident occurred at around 10:45 a.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 15 near Old Highway 395.

According to the CHP, a white semi-truck was traveling southbound on Interstate 15 when it allegedly hit the pedestrian.

Pedestrian Killed in Crash in San Diego County         

Emergency crews responded to the scene and found the pedestrian lying on the right shoulder of the interstate.

The pedestrian, described as a male victim, was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving measures performed by the medical personnel. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the big rig fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian. The truck reportedly obtained damage to its right side following the wreck.

Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run driver.
