Woman Severely Injured in Escondido Crash on Valley Center Road near Lake Wohlford Road
Escondido, California (January 14, 2019) – A woman was severely injured after a head-on collision Monday afternoon in the area of Escondido, according to a local news source.
The accident happened a while before 2:45 p.m. on Monday on southbound Valley Center Road near Lake Wohlford Road.
As per the report, a man was travelling north on Valley Center when he lost control of his pickup truck for unknown reasons. The truck then jumped the median and crashed head-on into a Mercedes-Benz sedan driven by a woman.
The Mercedes was reportedly coming down the grade towards Escondido at the time of the collision.
Responding firefighters along with paramedics attended to the female Mercedes driver who was pinned inside her car. She was transported to the hospital for treatment of severe injuries including broken bones in an arm and a leg.
The woman’s name and her current condition remained unknown.
Officials did not mention whether or not the male driver suffered injuries as a result of the accident.
Authorities closed both lanes following the accident.
An investigation into this incident is underway.
