Escondido, California (March 4, 2019) – A 54-year-old driver died in a fatal two-vehicle crash on Sunday morning in Escondido, according to the Escondido Police Department.

The crash was reported at about 9:35 a.m. March 3, at the Valley Parkway and Quince Street intersection.

According to the police, a 2003 Mercedes sedan driven by a 41-year-old woman from Escondido was traveling westbound on Valley Parkway when she collided with a 1996 Toyota Tacoma that was southbound on Quince Street.

The impact caused the Tacoma to roll several times and landed on top of its driver, who was partially ejected.

The police lifted the Tacoma off the man. He was then taken to the Palomar Medical center, where he later died of his injuries.

The victim was only identified as a 54-year-old man from Escondido.

A woman who was in the passenger’s seat of the Tacoma was extricated from the wreckage and sustained minor injuries.

The Escondido Police Department is investigating the incident.
