Ford City, California (September 9, 2020) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision in Ford City on Tuesday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at Elm Street and Pierce Street.

The authorities said 45-year-old Eric Rients was riding a 2005 Suzuki GSXR 1000 eastbound on Elm behind a 2007 Jeep Liberty driven by a 17-year-old Taft girl.

The car is reported to have slowed to make a left turn onto Pierce Street and collided with the motorcycle that was making a pass through the intersection.

Rients was ejected from the motorcycle.

The rider sustained major injuries in the crash and was flown to an area hospital for treatment.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
