Enrique Calderon-Mendez Among 7 Hurt in Santa Barbara County Accident on Highway 154

Santa Barbara County, California (September 16, 2019) – Enrique Calderon-Mendez, 43, of Santa Barbara was among seven people injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Saturday night in Santa Barbara County, according to a local news source.
The incident was reported at about 7:15 p.m. September 14, on Highway 154 east of Lake Cachuma.
According to the report, a 44-year-old Goleta man was driving a BMW eastbound on Highway 154 when he drifted into the westbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Tacoma driven by Calderon-Mendez. The two vehicles were then hit by a Jeep.
A passenger in the Toyota and sustained major injuries. She was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Three victims sustained moderate injuries and were transported by AMR ambulances to Cottage Hospital.
Enrique Calderon-Mendez Among Several Injured in Santa Barbara Crash
Calderon-Mendez and two other patients who had minor injuries were attended to by paramedics at the scene.
An initial investigation showed that the BMW driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injuries.
The crash caused a closure of Highway 154 as the scene was examined and cleared.
The crash is under investigation.
