Madera County, California (July 31, 2019) – The woman who was killed in a big rig collision on Tuesday morning in Madera County has been identified as Elvira Zuniga Valencia, 82, of Los Banos, according to the CHP.

The wreck happened at about 11:45 a.m. July 30, on Oregon Avenue and Road 28 1/2.

CHP said a GMC driven by Maria Barajas-Gonzalez, 59, of Los Banos, was stopped at a two-way stop on eastbound Oregon Avenue at Road 28 1/2 when she entered the intersection and was struck by a Peterbilt driven by 26-year-old Caleb Jeremiah Vogel of Mariposa.

Valencia was a passenger in the GMC. She was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
