Humboldt Hill, California (June 30, 2019) – A woman was hospitalized following an incident where a vehicle crashed into a Humboldt Hill home, killing one person on Friday night, according to the CHP.
The collision happened just after 10:30 p.m. June 28, in the 6000 block of Humboldt Hill Road.
CHP said a 25-year-old Fields Landing man was driving a 2005 Ford F250 pickup truck at a high rate of speed northbound on Humboldt Hill Road when he left the roadway and slammed into a house. The driver tried to flee the scene after the incident but was detained by witnesses until the CHP arrived.

One of the occupants of the house, Elizabeth Martin, was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
A second occupant was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver was arrested on charges of DUI, Hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
CHP said speed and alcohol were suspected to be factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
