Elizabeth Ellston Among 3 Hospitalized after Coarsegold Car Accident on Highway 41 near Yosemite Springs Parkway

Coarsegold, California (May 29, 2019) – Elizabeth Ellston, 48, of Coarsegold has been identified as the driver who was injured in a traffic accident involving two vehicles Monday afternoon in Coarsegold.
The wreck took place at around 2:45 p.m. Monday, May 27 on Highway 41, just north of Yosemite Springs Parkway.
Authorities said a 2017 Ford F150 driven by Ellston, was stopped to turn left in the southbound lane of Highway 41, directly ahead of a 1998 Mazda truck that was heading southbound on Highway 41. The driver of the Mazda tried to stop but was unsuccessful and rear-ended the Ford.
As a result of the collision, the Mazda continued off the west edge of the highway and landed around 50 feet off the road on its roof.

Ellston and the driver of the Mazda were taken to Community Regional Medical Center with moderate to major injuries. A passenger in the Ford sustained possibly major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
