Man in His 80s Killed in El Monte Pedestrian Accident on Durfee Avenue near Schmidt Road

El Monte, California (July 23, 2021) – An elderly pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday morning in El Monte, police said.
The deadly accident was reported at around 5:13 a.m. Thursday, July 22, on Durfee Avenue, just south of Schmidt Road.
According to the police, the pedestrian, only identified as an El Monte man in his 80s, was walking across Durfee Avenue when, for an unknown reason, he was hit by a southbound pickup truck.

The man was transported to the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The driver of the pickup stopped at the scene to cooperate with the police but was not arrested.
