Yuba County, California (May 2, 2021) – Edgar Ernst, 38, of Rio Linda, has been identified as the man who was injured in a Friday morning traffic accident that killed one other person in Yuba County south of Marysville, the CHP said.

The deadly accident occurred at about 5:00 a.m., on April 30, on Highway 70 near Feather River Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Ernst was driving his Honda Accord northbound on the highway when he swerved across the center divider onto the southbound lanes.

Unfortunately, Ernst’s Honda collided with a southbound 2007 Kia Optima, driven by Brian Allen, 64, of Marysville. The Honda landed on its roof on the right shoulder, and the Kia came to rest on its wheels, blocking two lanes of southbound traffic.

Edgar Ernst Injured in Fatal Yuba County Crash

Sadly, Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ernst sustained minor injuries, including a laceration to his chin, in the accident.

Intoxication was suspected of having played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
