Bakersfield, California (July 6, 2021) – Authorities have released the identity of the driver who was seriously injured Monday following a fiery traffic collision in Bakersfield.

The accident took place in the area of Old Farm Road and Palm Avenue on Monday, July 5, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said a car, driven by Dylon McGee, 17, was traveling on Old Farm Road when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Palm Avenue.

For an undetermined reason, McGee swerved to the left and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer that was parked along Old Farm Road.

The impact caused the car to catch fire.

Driver Injured in Fiery Crash in Bakersfield Identified

Fire crews responded to the scene and rescued McGee from the burning vehicle. He was then taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries. His condition was not immediately released.
