Dung Lai ID’d as Man Killed in San Diego Crash on Mission Gorge Road

San Diego, California (December 16, 2020) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died in a two-vehicle crash earlier this month in San Diego as Dung Van Lai, 56.
The deadly head-on crash happened at about 6:01 p.m. Friday, December 4, on Mission Gorge Road near Mission Trails Regional Park.
According to the police, a 2003 four-door Acura sedan, driven by Lai, was traveling westbound on Mission Gorge Road when, for unknown reasons, it crossed over the center median into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with an eastbound 1984 Toyota pickup.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated Lai, who was trapped in the wreckage.
Lai was then taken to a Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead at about 7:01 p.m. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle, authorities.
The driver of the pickup sustained non-life-threatening injuries that included multiple facial fractures.
No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
The San Diego Police is investigating the accident.
