Donald Mcrae Among 2 Killed in Oildale Car Crash on Highway 99 near Hosking Road

Oildale, California (January 7, 2020) – One of the two people who were killed in a crash involving a suspected hit-and-run driver on Friday evening in Oildale has been identified as Donald Angelo Mcrae, 24, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash took place around 5:45 p.m. January 3, on Highway 99, just south of the Hosking Road exit.
CHP said a dark-colored Elantra crashed into the back of a semi-truck traveling in the slow lane of northbound Highway 99. The Elantra became trapped under the big rig’s trailer.
Donald Mcrae Killed in Oildale Traffic Collision
Mcrae was a passenger in the Elantra. Mcrae and the driver of the Elantra were both killed in the crash. One other passenger in the vehicle was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
The driver of the big rig fled the scene after the crash. A witness followed the suspect and contacted the authorities, who arrested the suspect on SR 204.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
The crash is under investigation.
