Dolores Nelson ID’d as 92-Year-Old Folsom Woman Killed in Granite Bay Collision at Auburn Folsom Road and Eureka Road

Granite Bay, California (October 14, 2020) – Dolores Nelson, 92, of Folsom, has been identified as the woman who was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon in Granite Bay, the CHP said.
The deadly accident transpired at about 1:20 p.m., on October 13, at the intersection of Auburn Folsom Road and Eureka Road near Folsom Lake.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a dark red 2017 Toyota Prius, driven by Nelson, was headed southbound on Auburn Folsom Road when it stopped at the intersection for a traffic light.
Nelson’s Prius was then rear-ended by a speeding 2016 Volkswagen Jetta that was also driving southbound on Auburn Folsom Road, the officials said.
The force of the impact reportedly pushed the Prius in a south/westerly direction, across a sidewalk, and through a concrete perimeter wall, before it came to a stop.

Nelson and the Volkswagen’s driver, a 36-year-old man, sustained major injuries in the accident and were taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment.
Sadly, Nelson succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
