Modesto, California (September 30, 2019) – The pilot who was injured when a plane crashed Friday night in Modesto has been identified as Dirk Kanngiesser, 59, of Santa Cruz, according to a local news source.
The accident, which was reported at around 7:50 p.m. September 27, happened on Highway 99 near Crows Landing Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the single-engine Piper Dakota crashed landed on Highway 99. The aircraft burst into flames after the crash.

All southbound lanes were closed following the crash. Motorists were diverted off the highway.
