Deville Daggs ID’d as Suspect Arrested after Oakland Crash on Interstate 580 near 35th Avenue

Oakland, California (December 22, 2020) – Deville Daggs, 30, of Oakland, has been identified as the suspected who was arrested after a head-on two-car crash that killed a man and left a woman seriously injured on Monday morning in Oakland, the CHP said.
The deadly accident occurred at about 12:30 a.m., on December 21, Interstate on Highway 580, just west of 35th Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol officers reportedly tried to stop a black Chevrolet Suburban on Highway 580 at Fruitvale Avenue due to its unsafe speed and apparently had no license plates.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Daggs, sped away initiating a pursuit. The CHP called off the chase after Daggs got off the freeway at MacArthur Boulevard and allegedly drove back on heading west in the eastbound lanes.
After a few minutes, Daggs’s Chevrolet crashed head-on into a Honda minivan on Highway 580, just west of 35th Avenue.

Sadly, a man in his 30s, who was the driver of the Honda, sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
A female passenger suffered major injuries in the accident and was taken to Highland Hospital for treatment.
Daggs, who sustained moderate injuries, allegedly fled the scene and was arrested by the Oakland police and Alameda County sheriff’s deputies. He was also taken to Highland Hospital for treatment.
According to the CHP, Daggs will be taken to Santa Rita Jail after he is released from the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
