Derrick Daniels Killed in Fresno Fiery Car Accident at Palm and Ashlan Avenues
Fresno, California (August 23, 2020) – 43-year-old Derrick Lamont Daniels, of Fresno, has been identified as the motorist who died following a fiery car accident Friday morning in Fresno, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office reported.
The fatal crash took place at about 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Palm and Ashlan Avenues.
The mishap happened when the California Highway Patrol attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Daniels near the intersection, but he failed to stop. Officials then lost sight of the automobile on Palm Avenues and stopped chasing it.
The suspect reportedly ran a stop sign and slammed into a Mitsubishi before hitting a brick structure in the front yard of a home.
Due to the impact, the vehicle caught fire, and Daniels was pinned inside.
The CHP arrived at the scene and extricated Daniels from the burning car.

Sadly, Daniels was pronounced dead at the crash site.
Meanwhile, police found a loaded handgun in the waistband of Daniels.
The Mitsubishi operator, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was treated at the scene.
It was not clear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. An investigation into the crash is underway.
