Delores Nelson ID’d as Folsom Woman Killed in Granite Bay Car Crash at Auburn Folsom Road and Eureka Road

Granite Bay, California (October 22, 2020) – Delores Nelson, 92, of Folsom, has been identified as the woman who was killed in a two-vehicle accident last week Tuesday in Granite Bay.
The deadly accident happened at about 1:20 p.m., on October 13, at the intersection of Auburn Folsom Road and Eureka Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2017 Toyota Prius, driven by Nelson, was stopped in the south direction on Auburn Folsom Road for a traffic light when a southbound 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by a 36-year-old man, rear-ended it.
The Volkswagen was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when the accident happened, the officials said.
Following the collision, the Prius went in a southwest direction across a sidewalk and into a concrete perimeter wall. The Volkswagen came to rest on the opposite side of the intersection.

Nelson and the 36-year-old man were extricated from their vehicles and transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with major injuries.
Sadly, Nelson succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
