The fatal crash occurred at around 5:14 a.m. Sunday, July 18, on Highway 99 near Mingo Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, a Ford Mustang, driven by Estevan Mora, 25, of Stockton, was heading northbound on Highway 99 when he made an unsafe turn and slammed into a center divider. The impact caused the metal and plastic debris from the barriers to fall into the northbound lanes.

A Toyota Camry, driven by a 43-year-old man, attempted to swerve to avoid crashing into the debris but ended up hitting Jackson, who had got out of her vehicle to check for damage.
