Debra Barber ID’d as Woman Killed in Lancaster Car Accident at 20th Street East and Avenue J-8

Lancaster, California (November 27, 2020) – Debra Barber, 65, has been identified as the woman who was killed in a traffic accident that left three others injured on Thursday evening in Lancaster, according to the coroner’s office.
The deadly accident occurred at around 7:21 p.m., on November 26, at the intersection of 20th Street East and Avenue J-8.
According to the authorities, a female driver, allegedly intoxicated, crashed into a vehicle at Sierra Highway and Avenue J and fled the scene. The driver of the vehicle that was hit called the police and followed the hit-and-run driver.
The female hit-and-run driver ran a red light at 20th Street East and Avenue J-8 and broad-sided a second vehicle, driven by Barber.

Sadly, Barber sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
Three other occupants in Barber’s vehicle were injured. The front-seat passenger sustained major head trauma and was hospitalized in critical condition. The two back-seat passengers suffered head injuries and were taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
The alleged hit-and-run driver sustained minor injuries in the accident. She was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, the police said.
No one was injured in the other car.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
