Deborah Abata Identified as 1 of 2 Killed in Calistoga Crash on Highway 29 near Larkmead Lane

Calistoga, California (March 22, 2021) – Deborah Abata, 62, of Santa Rosa, has been identified as one of the two persons who were killed in a Monday morning head-on collision in Calistoga, authorities said.
The deadly two-vehicle accident happened at about 10:00 a.m., on March 15, on Highway 29 just south of Larkmead Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a southbound Subaru operated by Philip Popick, 30, of Calistoga, crossed over the centerline into the path of a northbound Infiniti, driven by Alvin Ray Minniefield, 64, of Santa Rosa.
Unfortunately, the two vehicles collided head-on.

Sadly, Minniefield was pronounced dead at the scene.
Abata sustained major injuries in the accident and was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Abata was a passenger in the infinity.
Popick was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with major injuries. Popick was arrested at the Queen for suspected felony DUI, causing major injury.
The crash remains under investigation.
