San Jose, California (May 11, 2019) – 24-year-old David Mandujano has been identified as the passenger who died in San Jose fatal crash Sunday night.
The fatal crash, which happened at about 10:00 p.m. May 5, occurred on the Interstate 880 Freeway at Alvarado Boulevard.
The accident involved a black Chevrolet Camaro and silver 2002 Pontiac Trans Am driven by 27-year-old Arturo Ceja. A local news source reported that both vehicles were racing through southbound Santa Teresa Boulevard before the occurrence of the crash. Due to the impact, Trans Am which was moving at very high speed lost control and slammed into a tree in the median.
Mandujano, a passenger in Trans Am, was pronounced dead following the accident. Ceja, a resident of San Jose, was transported to the hospital after sustaining significant injuries in the wreck.
The other involved driver identified as 37-year-old Vicente Ochoa of San Jose did not stop after the collision, according to the police. Ochoa was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose. He was charged for causing death, street racing, and hit and run reckless driving.
Meanwhile, the instigators handling the case are still gathering more information to identify the leading cause of the crash.
