Driver Arrested after Isla Vista Pedestrian Accident on Del Playa Drive Friday night

Isla Vista, California (July 15, 2019) – 18-year-old Danyale Guy was arrested after hitting and injuring a pedestrian Friday night in Isla Vista, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened in the 6700 block of Del Playa Drive on Friday, July 12.
The CHP said Guy was driving a 2006 Nissan Altima when he accelerated backward and struck a pedestrian. The driver then hit three parked vehicles in the parking lot of the 6700 block of Del Playa Drive.
After that, the driver accelerated forward and slammed into a building, which caused the natural gas line to rupture and significant structural damage.
The driver backed up, spun around and then struck a fourth parked vehicle. The motorist fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle in the 700 block of Camino Pescadero and then fled on foot in an unknown direction.
The pedestrian sustained unspecified injuries and was treated at the scene by emergency responders. The name and condition of the patient were not disclosed.
On Saturday at around 4:20 p.m., Guy called officers and reported that he was willing to turn himself in. A few hours later he was arrested and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail. He faces multiple charges.
Alcohol was considered a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
