Daniel Calletano and Naida Lopez Among 4 Hospitalized after McKittrick Accident on Highway 33

McKittrick, California (February 13, 2019) – Four people were injured in an accident involving two vehicles on Monday afternoon in McKittrick, according to a police report.
The collision took place at about 4:40 p.m. February 11, on Highway 33 Just north of Lokern Road.
The CHP said a 2005 Ford Escape, driven by Daniel Sanchez Calletano, 20, of Maricopa, was traveling southbound on the highway at 65 miles per hour. Calletano drifted into the northbound lanes to pass but then turned left to avoid oncoming traffic and lost control, striking one of the cars he was trying to pass. The car, a 2001 Honda Accord, was being driven by Carlos Salazar Gonzalez, 27, of Santa Maria.
The Honda spun out of control and ended up in a ditch.
Calletano and his passenger, Naida Lopez Primo, 23, of Maricopa, suffered severe injuries and were both flown to Kern Medical.
Two passengers in the Ford, Pedro Roque, 53, and Daniel Ventura, 25, both from Taft, sustained minor injuries. They were taken to Kern Medical by ground ambulance.
Gonzalez was not hurt.
Police said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be the cause of the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
