Damion James Hutson Arrested after Fatal 2-Vehicle Crash on China Grade Loop in Oildale

Kern County, California (February 16, 2019) – The person who caused a traffic accident that killed two people Monday night in Oildale has been arrested, the California Highway Patrol said.

Lori Sue Soto, 32, and Joshua James Andrews, 27, died in the accident that was reported at about 9:30 p.m. February 11, on China Grade Loop and Manor Street.

According to a local news source, Soto and Andrew were in a Dodge Charger traveling eastbound on China Grade Loop at a high rate of speed when the driver ran a red light and broadsided a Dodge Ram pickup at the intersection of Manor Street.

The Dodge Charger then struck the center median and several street signs.

Soto and Andrew were ejected from the Dodge Charger as it was cut in half by the impact of the crash. The two were confirmed dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup was hospitalized with moderate injuries. The name and the condition of the injured victim were not given immediately.

According to witnesses, another person in the Dodge Charger, possibly the driver fled the scene. CHP said Damion James Hutson was arrested in connection to the fatal crash.

Hutson was scheduled to be in court on Wednesday, February 20.

The crash remains under investigation.
