Cristina Niland among 6 Injured in Car Crash on Interstate 5 near Fort Tejon Road in Lebec

Lebec, California (January 4, 2021) – Cristina Niland, 27, was among six people who were injured Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Lebec.
The accident happened at about 1:16 p.m. Saturday, January 2, on northbound Interstate 5, just north of Fort Tejon Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a GMC Envoy was heading northbound on Interstate 5 when the driver made a sudden left turn from the No. 2 lane onto the left shoulder. As a result, the GMC veered off the roadway and crashed into a guardrail before rolling down an embankment.

The driver, a 28-year-old Norfolk man, and his two passengers, a 58-year-old Oxnard woman and a 9-year-old boy, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Three other passengers, a 7-year-old boy, sustained major injuries while Niland and a 2-year-old boy had minor injuries.
The CHP said all six patients were transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
Police closed all lanes of northbound Interstate 5 for the investigation. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
Further details regarding the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
