Cristian Barraza Killed, 2 Injured in Car Crash on Highway 371 near Barbara Trail in Palm Desert

Palm Desert, California (August 17, 2020) – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau has disclosed the identity of a man who was killed in a car accident in Palm Desert on Saturday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 2:05 p.m. August 15, on State Route 371 near Barbara Trail.
27-year-old Cristian Gomez Barraza was driving a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek westbound on Highway 371 when he lost control at a curve and collided with an eastbound 2015 Kia Optima driven by a 24-year-old San Jacinto man.
The impact of the collision sent the Subaru off the roadway and down an embankment.

Barraza was killed in the crash.
The driver of the Kia and his 19-year-old female passenger were hospitalized with moderate to major injuries.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
