Pedestrian Among 2 Injured in Costa Mesa Crash on Newport Boulevard at 19th Street

Costa Mesa, California (February 21, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Sunday morning traffic accident that left two people, including a pedestrian, injured in Costa Mesa.
The crash occurred at about 2:07 a.m. on Newport Boulevard at 19th Street.
According to the police, a vehicle driven by Herman Martinez, 22, of Maywood, allegedly drove through a red light while traveling southbound on Newport Boulevard at 19th Street.
Martinez reportedly allowed his vehicle to strike a pedestrian at Harbor Boulevard. The car then crashed into another vehicle before rolling over.
2 Injured in Crash on Newport Boulevard
The pedestrian and the other driver were injured in the accident and were hospitalized in unknown conditions.
Martinez, who was not injured in the accident, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
