Long Beach, California (January 7, 2019) – A motorcyclist killed after a traffic collision Monday afternoon has been identified as 25-year-old Corey Haggerty of Lakewood, according to a local news source.

The accident occurred at about 12:08 p.m. on Monday, on Lakewood Boulevard near Willow Street.

As per the report, Haggerty was riding his 2012 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle southbound on Lakewood Boulevard when he collided with an SUV, a 2018 Ford Explorer driven by a 49-year-old woman from Torrance.

The woman had just exited the 405 Freeway and was the 405 Freeway off-ramp that empties onto southbound Lakewood and was changing lanes to turn left on Willow when the collision happened.

Haggerty suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The female SUV driver and her passenger were unhurt in the collision. She remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Officials said that the SUV’s driver had a valid license and was not suspected of DUI at the time of the accident.

The motorcyclist reportedly had an expired driver’s license which did not have a motorcycle endorsement.
