Contra Costa, CA: Major Pedestrian Accident on Highway 24 and Camino Pablo Road

Contra Costa, California (February 22, 2019) – A pedestrian was injured after a traffic collision early Friday morning in the area of Contra Costa, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision happened at around 2:52 a.m. Friday, on Highway 24 and Camino Pablo Road off-ramp.

As per the CHP officials, a male driver struck a deer for unknown reasons. He then got out of his vehicle to take a picture of the animal and was hit by another vehicle.

An ambulance was sent to the scene to attend to the pedestrian who suffered severe injuries as a result of the collision. The male victim was transported to John Muir Health, Walnut Creek Medical Center for treatment.

The patient’s name and his current condition were not immediately known.

Officials blocked lanes 1 and 2 following the collision. All lanes were opened as of 3:56 a.m.

Tow trucks were requested to the scene to remove the vehicles from the crash site.

Information concerning the second motorist was not provided.

An investigation is underway.
