86-Year-Old Woman Killed in Concord Pedestrian Crash at Ayers Road and Valley Crest Drive

Concord, California (January 3, 2019) – An elderly woman was struck and killed by a vehicle at an intersection in Concord on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The crash happened at around 3:19 p.m. January 2 at the Ayers Road and Valley Crest Drive intersection.
Police said an 86-year-old Clayton woman was trying to cross the road when she was hit by a vehicle heading south on Ayers Road.
The victim was killed in the crash.
The 58-year-old Concord man driving the vehicle involved remained at the scene.
Police said alcohol and drugs were unlikely factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
