Christopher Durr ID’d as Man Killed in Bakersfield Truck Accident on Copus Road near Highway 99

Bakersfield, California (February 10, 2021) – The man who died Tuesday afternoon following a traffic accident in Bakersfield has been identified as Christopher Lewis Durr, 21, of Lancaster.
The deadly accident was reported to the California Highway Patrol at about 2:06 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, on Copus Road, just west of Highway 99.
According to the CHP, Durr was driving a Kia Rio westbound on Copus Road when, for an unknown reason, he allowed the Kia to drift into the opposite lane directly into the path of an eastbound Peterbilt truck carrying two dump trailers towing dry asphalt.
Both vehicles eventually collided. As a result of the collision, the trailers overturned and the dry asphalt spilled onto the road.

Durr was declared dead at the scene. The truck driver, aged 56, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Kern Medical.
Police shut down Copus Road for nearly seven hours while the investigation and cleanup took place.
The accident remains under investigation.
