Chris de Bar Killed in Contra Costa County Plane Crash on Mount Diablo Road

Contra Costa County, California (February 10, 2019) – One person killed after a small plane crashed on Friday night in Contra Costa County has been identified as Chris de Bar, according to a local news source.
The plane crash occurred on Friday, February 8 on Mt. Diablo but it was reported at around 2:41 p.m. Saturday, February 9.
For reasons still under investigation, the plane described as a single-engine Mooney M20 crashed into a hillside two miles southwest of the mountain’s peak, according to the source article.
Chris de Bar, the pilot, was the only person on board and was flying from Hayward to Lincoln, California. A family member of the pilot reported that the aircraft was overdue after it had not landed as scheduled.
First responders found the wreckage near Summit Road, where the aircraft burned after crashing. Chris de Bar was killed in the crash.
An investigation by the FAA and NTSB is underway.
