CHP Officer Jason Barton Seriously Injured in Fresno Motorcycle Accident at Ashlan Avenue and McCall Avenue
Fresno, California (June 12, 2021) – A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was seriously injured earlier last month in a collision with a farm tractor in Fresno, authorities said.
The major injury crash happened at about 5:15 a.m. on May 5 in the area of Ashlan Avenue and McCall Avenue.
According to the authorities, the tractor hauling an agricultural spray rig was on the shoulder of the road when, for an unknown reason, it entered the eastbound lane of Ashlan Avenue.
The tractor reportedly traveled directly into the path of a westbound Harley-Davidson, driven by Officer Jason Barton.
Barton ultimately crashed into the back of the tractor. He was thrown off the bike upon the impact.
CHP Motorcycle Officer Injured in Crash in Fresno County
Barton was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. He was released from the hospital on Friday, June 11.
The driver of the tractor, who was uninjured, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
