CHP Motorcycle Officer Severely Injured in Sacramento Motorcycle Crash near Highway 99 and Fruitridge Road
Sacramento, California (September 27, 2019) – A CHP motorcycle officer was severely injured after a traffic crash Friday morning in the area of Sacramento, according to a local news source.
The collision happened a while after 6:15 a.m. Friday, near Highway 99 and Fruitridge Road.
As per the report, the officer was riding his motorcycle when he hit the rear of a vehicle for unknown reasons. The impact ejected the rider and he landed in the number 2 lane while his motorbike was in the fast lane after the accident.
Major CHP Motorcycle Officer Crash in Sacramento
Responding emergency crews transported the officer to the UC Davis Medical Center with severe injuries. The officer’s name was not immediately released but authorities said he has served with CHP for 10 years.
Officials said the officer is expected to survive.
Authorities closed all northbound lanes following the crash. Two right lanes were reopened as of 7:30 a.m.
An investigation is underway.
