Livermore, California (April 27, 2021) – The passenger who died following a Saturday morning traffic accident in Livermore has been identified as Choung-Dinh Nguyen, 46, of San Jose, according to the Alameda County Coroner’s Office.

The California Highway Patrol said the deadly single-car accident happened at around 8:35 a.m. Saturday, April 24, on Interstate 580,  just west of Flynn Road North.

A 46-year-old San Jose woman was driving westbound on Interstate 580 when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of a 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan, which drifted off the roadway and traveled through a guardrail, the CHP said.

The minivan then rolled several times down an about 100-foot embankment.

Deadly Car Crash on I-580 in Livermore

Nguyen, who was likely not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the minivan as it was overturning. She was airlifted to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by firefighters. She was taken to Eden in stable condition.

No other details were released.
