Child Killed, 3 Injured after SUV, Semi-Truck Collide on Interstate 5 in Glenn County
11-Year-Old Boy Dies, Three Adults Injured in Glenn County Crash on Interstate 5 near County Road 60

Glenn County, California (July 12, 2020) – A juvenile was killed and three adults were injured early Saturday morning in an alleged DUI crash on an interstate in Glenn County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision happened just after midnight Saturday, July 11 on Interstate 5, just south of the County Road 60 overcrossing.
The CHP said a 58-year-old Washington man was driving a tractor-trailer northbound on Interstate 5 when, for undetermined reasons, he lost control of the semi-truck.
The semi-truck then rolled over and blocked both northbound lanes of the interstate. An SUV which was traveling behind the semi-truck then crashed into it.
Fatal Truck Accident on Interstate 5 in Glenn County
An 11-year-old boy, who was in the rear seat of the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the SUV, a woman, was flown to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The semi-truck driver was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the SUV, only identified as a 49-year-old San Jose man, sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Police closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 for more than eight hours as they investigated and cleaned up the scene. Motorists were being diverted around the wreckage.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
