Chico, California (October 26, 2019) – A male pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning in downtown Chico, according to a local news report.

The accident happened at about 7:14 a.m. near the intersection of Main Street and East 9th Street.

Reportedly, the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near the Chico intersection.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found the pedestrian on the ground and not responsive.

The pedestrian was taken to Enloe Medical Center, where he later succumbed to injuries. His name has not been released pending notification of family.

East 9th Street between Main Street and Wall Street was shut down for about four hours as the authorities investigated the cause of the accident.

Investigators determined that the driver involved was not under the influence at the time of the accident. It was not immediately clear if impairment was a factor on the part of the pedestrian.
