80-Year-Old Man Killed in Chico Car Accident on Meridian Road near Kilkare Lane
Chico, California (April 27, 2020) – An 80-year-old man was killed in a two-car crash on Sunday morning in Chico, according to police.
As per the authorities’ report, the deadly crash transpired at about 10:30 a.m., on April 26, on Meridian Road, just north of Kilkare Lane.
The California Highway Patrol said the 80-year-old man was traveling northbound on Meridian Road in a 1993 Chevrolet Tahoe when he attempted to pass a 2020 Toyota Tundra.
The Chevrolet reportedly rear-ended the Toyota. The force of the collision caused the Chevrolet to overturn, and the elderly man was ejected from his vehicle.
The 80-year-old man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. He was declared dead at the scene. His identity was not disclosed pending notification of family.
It was not clear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
