1 Dies after Chico Bicycle Accident at Highway 32 and Meridian Road
Chico, California (June 21, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday morning bicycle accident that killed one person in Chico.
As per the police log, the crash occurred at about 9:42 a.m., on June 20, at Highway 32 and Meridian Road.
A bicyclist was traveling northbound on Meridian Road, approaching the intersection at Highway 32 when they collided with a 2003 Dodge pickup truck that was traveling westbound on Highway 32 towards the same intersection, said the California Highway Patrol.
The bicyclist entered the intersection where it collided with the Dodge pickup truck. The pickup was unable to avoid the bicyclist, the officials said.
Fatal Bicycle Accident on Highway 32 in Chico
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the accident, traffic on the roadway was stopped and as of noon. Highway 32 and Meridian Road were reopened.
It was not clear if alcohol played a role in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
