Bicyclist Seriously Injured, Chase Richard Arrested after Ramona Crash on State Route 67 near Dye Street

Ramona, California (October 9, 2019) – Police have arrested a person suspected to have been involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a bicyclist seriously hurt last Wednesday morning in Ramona, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The crash was reported at around 6:15 a.m. October 2, on state Route 67 near Dye Street.

The CHP said the bicyclist was hit by a black Ford Edge on state Route 67 for unknown reasons. Due to the impact, the female party was knocked off the bike, leaving the bicycle stuck in the SUV’s front grill.

The bicyclist sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital. The victim was identified as a 53-year-old woman and remained hospitalized Tuesday.

Chase Richard Arrested after Ramona Hit-And-Run Accident

Authorities conducted a search with the help of tips from the public and on Tuesday, they were able to locate the driver and the vehicle involved. The driver, identified as Chase E. Richard, 34, of Ramona, was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run.

The crash remains under investigation.
