Channing Christy Hospitalized after Cotati Bicycle Accident on Highway 116

Cotati, California (February 7, 2020) – 24-year-old Channing Christy of Ukiah has been identified as the Cotati bicycle crash victim that happened on Wednesday night, according to authorities.
The major collision happened at around 8:00 p.m. February 5, on Highway 116, about a quarter-mile west of Stony Point Road.
As per the CHP officials, a Safeway truck driven by David Zarate, 55, was driving behind a bicycle operated by Christ when the truck hit the bike for unknown reasons. Christy was riding his bicycle in the outside lane of Highway 116 when the crash occurred.
Major Bicycle Accident on Highway 116
The impact sent the rider lying on the roadway. He was rushed to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of severe injuries. Christy was listed in stable condition.
Zarate told officials that he did not see Christy on the roadway.
Authorities confirmed that the rider was wearing a helmet at the time while his bicycle was equipped with a flashing red tail light.
An investigation is underway.
