Man Dies in Carlsbad Train Accident near Grand Avenue and Washington Street
Carlsbad, California (September 27, 2019) – Authorities are investigating a fatal bicycle versus train collision that happened Thursday evening in Carlsbad.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred at about 7:25 p.m. on the railroad tracks near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Washington Street.
As per the report, an Amtrak train traveling at about 63 mph struck a man who was riding a bicycle on the tracks.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside by paramedics. The man died of his injuries while receiving treatment.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
