Kelseyville, California (July 21, 2019) – Carlos Gaspar, 17, of Kelseyville, was among nine people injured in a two-vehicle collision on Friday night in Kelseyville, according to the CHP.

The incident occurred at about 10:23 p.m. July 19, on Highway 29, north of Soda Bay Road.

CHP said a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup was traveling northbound on Highway 29 when it crashed into a mountain lion in the roadway. The impact left the lion dead at the scene.

The crash pushed the Ford into the southbound side, where it collided with an oncoming Lexus RX300 sport utility vehicle.

Both drivers sustained major injuries. One of them was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center while the second was flown to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center.

Two passengers in the Ford also had major injuries. One of them was airlifted to UC Davis and the other to Kaiser Vacaville.

Carlos Gaspar was among three teens who were passengers in the Ford. The three were transported by ground ambulance to Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport with minor-to-moderate injuries.

Two passengers in the Lexus were taken to Adventist Health Clear Lake Hospital in Clearlake with minor injuries.

The CHP is investigating the crash.
